while i could easily purchase such rings for a few $, i want to reduce such purchases.:
tuna tins seem to bethe right size. but due to the bottom of the tins (at least the ones joan buys… maybe other brands are old-style with symetric top/bottom, and easy to remove the bottom), these ones are rounded at the bottom for more stable staxking. our can openeer can’t cut the bottom off. but i have the right tools to do the job!
i tried using the tins with the bottom still on, dropping the gg into the tins and letting the egg solidify. problem: took too long to cook (6 minutes vs 3) and were diffucult to remove the egg (and yes, i did lube the tins well with ghee…).
so cut the bottoms of the tins with snips. leaves some vicious sharp edges. took a while using files and emory cloth
TO-DO: needs pics of final results of tins, and their use in making eggs for sandwhiches…
