an example of internet rot… for instance, when the image host for a site (like Fark.com, which allows if not enforces a “use another host for image storage, not us” policy. then that image host fails, loses, shutdown, user deletes files, etc., then the link form Fark.com will result in a “can’t load this file” error image, which can be minor or major depending on content now missing.
similar to enshittification, excapt there is no ill will here. just things fall apart. which means if you intende to be around long, you host the files that make up your contenet. or you buy up the image hoster that has so much of you caontent.
