For those dipping a toe in, he recommends trying out the milder versions that modify basic sacres – much as English-language speakers might say “darn” or “fudge” in place of spicier curses. Instead of saying “tabarnak”, he says to opt for “tabarnouche“, “tabarouette” or “tabarslack” – words that get the idea across with less risk of causing offence.
