my handy lighted magnifier I keep at the tv room no work; batteries have leaked and corroded the terminals at one end. scrape off all visible gunk (actually??) then wash with baking soda + water slurry (exact mixture unknown, likely not important. the backing soda reacts with the gunk, leaving bare metal?. sometimes i will scratch the surface with a file; works!
