tried it with celery; indeed, we seemed to get longer than usual. need to try more tests, maybe with some controls in plastic or paper?
2023-11-15 – what about green onions? we like them in wraps and Mexican-tyle things (crunchwraps, burritos, skillet tacos, etc.), but a bunch rarely keeps more than a week. tried wrapping in foil (after trimming green we don’t use and the cleaning the bulb); at least 10 days later, still quite good.. need to try trimming the bulb off (pretty sure doing so will slow down degredation, as with carrots, etc.?); definitely extends fridge life!
in this example, in fridge 2023-10-24, used some, back in fridge, used some 2023-11-05, so 13 days; just as good as first day use. And we used the last of them a few days later. No way would we get 2+ weeks from normal storage (plastic wrap?).
