Project – re-cover back deck kitchen wall

things to do:

  • get all insulation out, estimate if we have enough need more, get 2x
  • use roof sealing sheet as inner vapour barrier, staple in?
  • do we have nailer to drive 2″ nails?
    • air nailer is 18ga, but we seem to have used 16ga in it? ???
  • remove remaining vinyl siding, corner pcs
  • need to replace window edging? likely cheap
  • need to seal around window? what goo?
  • change chop saw blade
  • confirm chop saw is cutting as accurate 90degrees as possible
  • decide: how to do corners.
    • 2″x2″ corner molding is simple, covers corner
    • 1″x2″ flush seems much more difficult
  • decide: how to do nails? exposed or hidden?
  • decide: bevel butted edges or not?
  • decide: stain or paint – seems like stain is preferred:

Buy:

  • OSB sheeting, likely 3pc 7/16″ x 4’x8′? will need trailer?
  • shiplap boards x16
  • 2x corner trim
  • nails (2″? 16ga? 18ga?)
  • insulation (one economy pack covers 40sq ft, so with existing rockwool should be enough); get 2, use elsewhere

rough sketch of the surfaces to be covered.
