SHAPEZ notes

2023-04-10 – something clicked and I get the goal of Shapez. On level 12 of the game/tutorial? i was able to get 3 inputs to the hub; this means 24 units/min, so 1k/24 = ~40 mins; from this mess:

By “firsrt clicke”, I mean that breakthrough moment when a topic suddenly makes sense, all the parts fit together. Once other I recall this feeling was in programming and wiring a 8-bit mpu kit (ikely Clarke Pick’s famous project), and understanding how the cpu runs a cycle of instructs to put addresses on address lines so a specidifc address is chosen, and then the cpu get it a cylce later, latehce it into a register, noxtr clycle etc.

So now the goal is to reduce that mess to a small, no wasted space, easiyl repreoducable set of blocks; some tutorial I read referred to “manifolds”, which will allow quick reproduction to increase productions. perhaps build outwards from the hub, expanding the inputs?

maybe we make a simplfgied verison of this,so it becomes a tmeplate for making this specific shape. need to make more? activate another copy on a hub that has the necessary resources nearyby??

will i ever need to make that shape again? is this the game or a tutorial?

So deleting to make a new machine is a bad idea, snce if you copy stuff you loose some of the previous stuff you made as a cost to build. so zi need ~165 blue with white disks, but i just destroyed the machine that makes it. so we have to be adding on at all times? now I have t rebuild whole mahine. this time I will do it neater.
