Former US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams on Monday questioned the Biden administration’s current guidance on getting both Covid-19 vaccine shots for the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines — which were tested and authorized as a two-dose regimen spaced a few weeks apart — in order to offer at least some protection immediately to more Americans.
Sadly, Fauci will probably most remembered for his early “Not recommended for everyone to wear masks” due to need to reserve them for medical staff. This article has Fauci acknowledging the messenging challenge; “we’ve said “2-dose” as the regime, now if we say “1 dose is fine”, there will be much distrust.. Either statgy is complicated. Probably only way to know would be to run the simulation again, either from this point forward or from pre-pandemic (like mid-summer 2019)
Note: I’m on the pro-Fauci train. I don’t think his early “mistake” was all that bad.
And we should diparage Mr. Adams here either; he has valid points.
