If we are to believe today’s numbers, the USA has a worse death / capita than Brazil:
USA: 129k / 330m = 391 / million
Brazil: 62k / 210m = 295 / million
Bosonaro has very much discouraged taking any precautions. Like Trump has.
This pretty much shows the USA has completely botched this pandemic. Might have had it under some control in March/April, but it’s lost now.
And Canada’s not too great; 229 / million puts us in the top 20. But most of that’s in elder care homes; sadly, it took a pandemic to show where the problems are.
