Is NARCAN/naloxone harmful for not-overdosed person?  TL;DR: NO!

Naloxone is a very safe drug. It has no effect on someone who has no opioids in their system. Naloxone does not encourage opioid use. It has been used safely since the 1960’s and is on the World Health Organization List of Essential Medicines.

Naloxone is a relatively safe drug. Giving naloxone to a person that is unconscious because of a non-opioid overdose is unlikely to cause harm. However, naloxone will not reverse overdoses that are caused by non-opioid drugs (e.g., overdoses caused by alcohol or cocaine).
