Order placed! Expected Aug. 22-29. Hoping it doesn’t get lost like the hand vacuum!!
Once Karl suggested Broil King (Canadian made!), and I discovered the “commercial” line is just beefier all round (sales dude at Broil King HQ said “What we don’t spend on the ‘extras’ on the similar-sized S490 (side IR burner, rotisserie) we spend on materials. I want this thing to be my last BBQ purchase, dammit!
The large $3K ($2K on sale) Weber was a limited time sale, or perhaps a one-off (it was a hand-made sign…?). Also, saw a few “this thing’s not well built” reviews; perhaps this was Weber’s “value” line?
Gas line was installed today. Only remaining variable is will the hoses & fittings mate? Recall that “Tom” from Boyle suggested there might be an issue; call them and he’ll drop buy if we’re uncertain. AND TO DO THE SOAP TEST OR PREPARE TO BLOW UP!

——– Below here are notes… above is what I ordered ——–
Max. C$2K (1K each). To include a natural gas hookup, so a natural gas BBQ required.
Size: must be ????” / ??m / ??cm wide
Features, must have: 3 burners; side burner;
Feature, light want: 4 burner; rotisserie; IR element (for the crispies!)
Weber?
Genesis II E-315 3-burner, NO side-burner HD.C$1100
Genesis II E-335 3-burner, WITH side-burner HD.C$1350
Rotisserie for 300-series, C$140
- buy after we confirm existing rotisserie won’t work (I suspect it will)
Can’t find IR element… might not be available for the Genesis II line??
On BBQs, I’m thinking something simple and Weber. 3-burner. Natural gas. I’m agnostic about side-burner. Damn thing’s expensive though… I think the only diff between the E-315 & E-335 models is the side burner, at $250… (see attached).
Would like to test the excellent rotisserie on the current BBQ; it’s somewhat adjustable. If it can’t be made to work, then Weber sells one for $140.
The only other thing I’d like to have is an IR burner; I know Weber has models with such a thing, but not sure if avail for the Genesis II line. Questions have been submitted to Weber; hopefully I’ll know soon.

Yay, we have a bbq coming.
I have emailed Broil King to determine what the “commercial” model has that warrants that label. Near as I can tell, it’s nothing more than 9mm SS grate vs. 8mm SS grate. But very difficult to determine from their website. Best I could do is using Home Depot’s “compare feature. Which I’ll attach here once I figure out how to attach PDFs here… 🙂
Also prefer Home Depot so I can use either a 10% off coupon or a “no interest for 12 or 18 months coupon.
Am considering doing this very soon, since poor old Vermont Castings is down to 2 burners. 🙁
Here’s a stripped down view of the diffs via HD; only differences shown, with my notes:
Primary grill surface 500 sq. inches vs. 444 sq. inches
Extra BTU’s 50K vs. 40K
Another slightly less expensive model to consider is the Regal 420 PRO
I’m OK with buying from THD if that is the best deal available.
Bev told me about the current one being ready to give up the ghost so I’m OK with either model let us know what final cost is & we can give you our share next month.
From my end I cannot make any changes to avatar, nor is there a place to select notifications.
Broil King Regal S420 Commerical 4 Burner 55,000 BTU NG Gas Grill, $1300 (Home Depot) gets my vote.
I think this would be a higher quality unit and if your rotisserie does not work we can get one from Broil King at a later date.
No notificatiuon rec’d – I just thought that i should look for a new post from you.
How about either of these Broil Kings:
Broil King Baron S490 Pro 4-burner, IR Side Burner, Rotisserie, $1100 (Home Depot)
Broil King Regal S420 Commerical 4 Burner 55,000 BTU NG Gas Grill, $1300 (Home Depot)
The 2nd one is a “commercial” version; no extras (no IR burner, no rotisserie, but both are available as upgrades, and my existing rotisserie might work). But I can’t really determine what the advantages of the “commercial” line vs. “non-commercial”.
Update: “commercial” one has 50,000 BTU, “non-commercial” is 40,000 BTU.
Also, do you get a notice when I post a reply here?
I think we ought to consider good old Waterloo, Ont. based Broil King.
Look at the links I e-mailed & let me know what you think.
I like E-330 or E-335
If we want infra red burner too then we have to move up to the Summit S-470 @ $2899.00
Looks like only way to get Nat. Gas from Napoleon is to get a built in model
