Australia and the U.K. have more solar and wind power than their electrical systems know what to do with — so they’re giving it away.

tl;dr: 41% of australian? homuseholds have solar panels due to heavy subsidies from govt; then recenetly ~500k have added battieris; open market for people to sell back to grid, result in not paying for electricty ~8hours a day (panels only) to all day (with batteiries). nowadays so much solar generated in midday that wholesale cost goes negative, so even non-solar panel owners benefit.
