TL:DR: affected but not ruined. Possibly fixable in software. And the affected observations were within 90ish minutes of when telescoping would have been stopped due to rising sun. So maybe asrronomy just loses 3 hours of observation time a night (satellites shine by reflected sunlight, which can only occur ~90 mins after/before sunset/sunrise)? But still will have occulations even during dark time.
