Alcohol sales changed subtly after Canada legalized cannabis

Total alcohol sales didn’t change much in the first 17 months after Canada legalized recreational cannabis, but small changes appeared at the local level.

tl;dr: hard to say. but interesting that Nova Scotia used their alcohol stores instead of setting up a sepeerate retail system (like most provinces have done, including Ontario, although we originally planned for the LCBO to do cannabis sales until dougie threw that idea away…)

Nova Scotia did the opposite. Its government-owned liquor corporation became the main cannabis retailer. After legalization in October 2018, most provincial liquor stores kept selling only alcohol, but some began selling cannabis as well.
