RFK Jr.’s Battle Against Food Dyes Hits a Roadblock: M&M’s – The New York Times

If Mr. Kennedy cannot force companies to reformulate their products, states might do the job for him. Beginning in 2027, Texas will require warning labels on foods or beverages containing certain additives, including dyes used in M&M’s. In 2028, West Virginia will start banning foods containing most artificial food dyes and two preservatives because of potential health risks.

tl;dr: very dificult to do at federal level; needs to be done at the state level for reasons. but like many things, unless donne at the highest level (federal), you just create the “go to the next state over that sells the artificla dye versiobn”, just like alcohol (dry county? go 2 miles thataway and you’re in a wet county..); it’s like restaurants that try to stop tipping – unless it’s done everywhere (at least state-level, but even then, there will be peoiple that will travel to the still-tippng juristidctions nexct state over to get tthe same pricing (where you subsidize the low-paid wait staff with your own opinion about there service, 15% or 20% now being the normal
