instead of growing cannabis, will grow tomatoes. Joan got the following 8 x Beefsteak, 8 x Best Boy (or Big Boy or Better Boy??)
— 2025-06-26 – Wednesday – planted in pots. that’s 15 tomato plants (one was just a single leaf that didn’t thrive). we are gonna have a shit load of tomatoes!
look up both types and estimate the pick date(s)
2 are Beefsteak of some sort; 78 days [expand]

both are intermediates, so the fruiting should be spread out a bit. I refer to the Burpee’s catalog, but since these are generic names, not sure of th data,.
!!! might consider killing 2 plants per pot, since these are both expected to by ~3′ diameter plants.

— 2025-07-23 – Wednesday – day 28 – tested soil using vinegar & baking soda method; no fizzing with either, suggesting neutral pH; so next step is to reduce temperature by shading the plants.
— 2025-07-23 – Wednesday – day 28 – added sun shade to 2 right side plants; for simplicity, used 2 camp chairs, which give ~90% shade BUT will have to be adjusted ~11am, ~3pm, ~5pm as the sun moves. left 2 as control.
— 2025-07-27 – Sunday – day 32 –
— 2025-07-31 – Thursday – day 36 – added labels (1=right (near garage), 4=left (near west fence); #1 now has 1 plant (someone took 3… you’d fucking think that someone might attempt to cover the roots for the remaining 1 plant, and might take one out of #2 (leaving 2) and one out of #3 (leaving 3), but too fucking difficult, so now we have 1, 3, 4, 2 (counting from right to left); I’ll fix this tomorrow…
— 2025-08-02 – Saturday – day 38 – moved 1 Big Boy from pot 3 to pot 1; so now we have 2, 3, 3, 2 (counting from right to left); added soil to all pots; watered.
— 2025-08-09 – Saturday – day 45 – watered; added stakes, not yet needed but ready.
— 2025-08-11 – Monday – day 47 – watered
— 2025-08-15 – Friday – day 51 – watered yesterday with 1/2 strength 6-6-3 “rose bud” fertilizer sprinkled on surface. i count maybe 20 tomatoes
— 2025-08-21 – Thursday – day 57 – tied plants to stakes. currently ~28 tomatoes.
— 2025-08-27 – Wednesday – day 63 – watered.
— 2025-08-31 – Sunday – day 66 – added 4 scoops 6-6-3 Sheep Manure; watered
— 2025-09-08 – Monday – day 74 – watered; a few tomoatoes are showing a bit of colour!
— 2025-09-11 – Thursday – day 77 – watered; took 2 green ones for Fried Green Tomatoes.
