i think someone quoted us $2k to mud/tape/sand/paint the ceiling in the basement. probs the guy who put up the drywall.
i would like something else. for some reason i like the idea of slats.
i did some calcs:
basement ceiling – found some slats, made of mdf, very nice, exactly what i was thinking. would need to see if we can cut holes for the pot lights, and maybe find a nice metal ring to fit over cut edge
sadly, 20msq needed, $187/msq = 3740$ + taxes + install + materials so probs $4500 done. ouch
this would be for the tv end, aligned with the flooring. thinks something “tin tile”-ish for over the bar area. see below this gallery
for the bar end, I want something tin-tile like. challenge: cuttings hole for pot lights. OR maybe get rid of bar end pot lights?
