Just Joan & I. One the road ~7:20am. One water, Oro Station public launch ($20 all day); got second-to-last parking spot.
Tried ~1 hour flat-line trolling. No hits. Remainder of day spent deep-water jigging. Very little action, likely no real hits. For last hour, also tried some simple hook & worm to target the schools seen ~15 and ~40′ down (likely perch). Still no hits.
So no fish. But they are there, plain as day on the fish finder. Or it lies.
Overall, good day. No blown tires. No burned out bearing hubs. Didn’t almost sink boat. Weather almost perfect, a bit windier than expected, but very manageable.
Problems that need solving:
- left trailer wheel needs proper-sized dust cap (who knew there are two cap sizes for 1″ diameter shaft: 1.940″ and 1.980″; Canadian Tire only has the smaller one, which almost fits. But falls off with the slightest tap, or when the hub warms up.
- still can’t drive with Bimini top on; had to be completely removed by the time we hit Fowler’s Corner.
- fell on dock when trying to get out. Oro Station public launch is a bit high, and my post was of no use; aluminum boat hook bent in half and broke; might have been OK if this support didn’t fail. Need something stronger, like EMT?
