A better way to write money/denomination in text

Why don’t we speak money values the way we write them numberically (speaking as a white cis male, of course):

We write a fiver as “$5” or “$5.00”.  If we’re including a currency, it’s “$5 Canadian”.  But we read it or speak it as “five dollars”.  But it should be “dollars five”.

We don’t do this with mass: “5kg” is “five kilos”.  We don’t do this with length: “2m” is “two meters”.

So, I will attempt to lead by example (sigh….).  I’ll use my style here.
