Mt. Everest – How Long on the Summit?

So I was thinking: how long does a climber get to stand on the summit of Mt. Everest?

Wikipedia says”summit” is approx. the size of a dining table.  Est. 1.5m dia – 1.75m^2 area, so perhaps 4 people can stand on it at one time (they’re wearing parkas and such…).

How many permits / season?

How many hours / season can humans stand on the summit?

Everything about Everest is dumb now. People should be ashamed to go anywhere near it unless they’re using their skillz to haul trash off it or rescue stricken trash haulers.

THIS!

The video answered one question I’ve always wanted to ask… how large is the “top” of Everest? How many people can all be at the top at one time? From the video (and the dozen others I followed down that rat hole…) it’s pretty small. Looks like one person can be at the top at any one time.

The other question is: “How long does one get to be that one person standing at the top of Everest?”. With those long lines and the short season (weeks?), I’m guessing the Sherpas probably shuffle their clients off fairly quickly.

Target Builder: Yes, but there’s the still unique quiet solitude at the top of the world…
About that…. I know nothing about mountaineering. But I’m curious about two things specifically about Everest.:

  1. How large is the summit? How many people can be on the summit at one time?
  2. How long are you allowed to be on the summit?
