Police say organized retail crime rings in the Toronto area are using self-checkouts to steal millions of dollars worth of merchandise, then selling it through online marketplaces like Amazon.

Hi!
Enjoyed this article. Amazing how enterprising the bad guys are.
You mention some (most?) of the stolen goods are fenced through Amazon. I was thinking some of it might end up in the online auctions that have seem to spread like wildfire during the pandemic.
Browsing and bidding online has become a bit of a hobby for me. They seem to have a never-ending supply of consumer goods, often new/unopened. Along with plenty of dubious “as is” items.
The only downside to these online auctions is the bad guy wil on
Which reminds me… I’ve never seen much coverage about this online auction scene since ~2020. Maybe I missed the articles? Search doesn’t turn up much. Hit me up it you want some thoughts on the scene.
Anyhow, thank for the read.
Cheers!
