Instead of buying a GPS for boat, why not use my old “travelling” GPS (first one we bought)? Perhaps not ideal (why not? fishfinder with chartplotter way better)
Butit won’t turn on. Was at least 3 years since last used. But this stuff doesn’t rot!
Foind that the connector (mini-USB, grrrr….) on the back is a bit flaky; as you push it in the 4mm or so it goes in, goes from “no connection” to “connection” back to “no connection”; so have to NOT push it all the way in. This needs fixing (perhaps something that prevents it going in all the way?)
Using my new KeySight DMM, there is current flowing when connected to a 12VDC wall wart. Started at 40mA, over time is dropping (4 hours later, is 16mA). Likely charging battery? But it does this with battery disconnected???
