army story – field clean-up duty, foot-tapping bobm detection, and white phosporous

straight from the s.o.c. file.[mfn]I keep including this to promote my s.o.c. file idea. [/mfn]

army story – i was on a shit-duty job, clearing large sections of gagetown of unexploded ordenance, parts of vehicles, wasrte, wetc. basically 50 dufes walking in a line 3 meters or so from reach other, looking for the stuff that didn’t belong. the joke was we’re outt eh patting our feet on the ground in front of ous with our finger in our ears, looking fro the boombs. mostly we just put for markers with brifht tape for the appropriate crew to come blow up the booms, or deal with scrap metals, weapons, we would pick up any trash . crappy job,
this was the time that i accidently kicked over some dirt, just walked over a patch ground with of white phosphous buried below the dirt (keeping it from slef-ignitinh and burning?), exposing it to air and catching of fire, as it will. likely came from a starlight parachute flare fired from a big morot or artillery was easily put out by ditributing it around and letting it burn out. sot moreked for further checks

was watching coverage of israel/hamas/gaza figthing, israel firing many of these starlight shells.
