Opium poppy production in Afghanistan, previously the world’s top supplier, has plummeted since the Taliban administration banned the cultivation of narcotics last year, a United Nations report said on Sunday.

so it’s possible to almost eradicate opium, and opresemably other drugs. but what is the cost? are the penalties so harsh (the Taliban are considered a fairly ruthless bunch), or the fear of them so big. reminder I want to try opium.
