2023-08-01~ – battery fails; at drive-in, 1-hour after arriving, only radio on, try to start just before movie starts, no start. try 3 times, 5 mins between, no joy. this is 2nd failure, same circumstances.
try jumpi. jumpi works!
2023-08-04 – jeep to dealership for battery test; result = dead battery, needs new battery, 440C$ please.
WAIT – mfg warranty start date = 2023-08-31 (per sales receipt); should be covered!!
check warranty: battery is NOT listed as excluded from the 3 years / 60Kkm section (wipers, brakes, tires, etc. excluded); no other mention of battery in the warranty manual:
when brought to dealership’s attention, they (who??) tried to claim batteries excluded; when presented with the above evidence to the contrary, had to “run it by his boss”??; they called back and said indeed, is warranty. Hurray for us!
TO-DO: where is paperwork?
TO-DO: So I wonder if this is common practice; just say it’s not covered, every so often someone just pays the bill when it could have been warranty.
META: this is an excellent example of how I use my blog to document things. Good tagging means I can find it. Scans or pics of the relevant documents included. With a TO-DO tag so it shows up in a tag search.
