when costing something like high speed rail, how do you account for the 1 more km? like the differencve between 100km of hsr, and 500km? with all the sations and infra in place, when cost fore those 400 kms? and is the “marginal cost” of a thing, the cost to make the last unit (or is it one more i=unit0?
is there a formula: 1B$ for 100km of HSR + 1M$ for every km after that (and assuming those 1kms are simple track; additional costs for bridges, tunnels, or other costs specified.
was reading this thread of Fark, wanted to respond this post:
i’m guessing the population desnity is really the thing. those european countires likely add up to way more than the large cities covered here. but if you move that oberly east & south to texas, lots more large cities with lots of space betwween them.
also, what is name of the scenic train from to to vancouver?
