kids these days don’t know the hell that was getting the ketchup out of the bottle. glass bottle, no air inlet, so you had to coax the ketchup out. bumping the bottle with the fist or palm of hand with the bottle pointed downwards towards the ketchup target. likes this documentary shows:

the secret was to insert a knife or chopstick up the bottle opening to allow an air inset or even a scooping motion, or both.
