if coffee dissappeared we could make something simalr? or just switch to caffine drinks? article sez probably. wonder if it could be made to be better, targeting exackly what flavopurs we like, customizable. would this be the better way? ,i like the idea of more avarieties of coffee being avail. like bannana and mangoes, there’s just so much more out there than what we normally see.
sorta like my idea that once a replicator ala start tek exuists and is cheap enough like a small microwave is now. 800 wats, can at least boil water, will anyone both to cook? would it become a hobby? like ham radio or dslr cameras for the vast majority not needed. kirk or the guy in the wheelchair with the red light, was a cook in an episode. but why all the sapce and such to have cookwar e and appliances, when a small box xcan do.

“If coffee were to go extinct in the wild, we might be able to make synthetic coffee using some kind of substrate or plant material soaked in caffeine. Lab-based coffee made using bioreactors full of yeast or bacteria is another route that’s being explored. But Davis argues that we should try domesticating some of the other 128 species of coffee, before they’re gone. Some of these varieties will have a unique flavor, too — they may be less acidic or bitter, for example.”

TO-DO: research synthetic coffee. what are feedstocks?
