McDonald’s to leave Russia for good after 30 years

The chain opened in Moscow in 1990 as the Soviet Union was opening its economy to Western brands.

while no doubt it’s good that mcd’s is pulling fully out of russia, i’m curious what ahppens to all the stuff they leave behind? stores and all the queipment. does russia govt just take it and then run it or sell off in (corrupt??) auctions or whatevs?
similar question: what happens to all the assets that are frozen due to some sort of factioopns. does the sieized assest relley become the property of the seizing counter and coan then ber solf off or destryoed? is there an appeal, or asre ther conditioons buitl in that will allow the rertun of the asset, for instsance, if russia pulls back to thyeir borddr, you get your yuaht back, time limited, of course.

it is an bad sign of the state of western & russia relationships. ignore they “countries with mcd’s have never warred,” rubripck, it is true that this is a bad sign. lots of loss for mcd, and for freedom in gernarl? or demacracy?

Articcle does say this:

“McDonald’s said it would sell all its sites to a local buyer and would begin the process of “de-arching” the restaurants which involves removing its name, branding and menu. It will retain its trademarks in Russia.”
