Consensus emerges on decriminalising personal drug consumption – The Economic Times

All key stakeholder departments have agreed to do away with imprisonment and fines for personal consumption of drugs and amend Section 27 of the Narcotic, Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, (NDPSA) among other clauses, especially for first-time offence. Rehabilitation and deaddiction programmes of 30 days may be introduced to wean away drug users.
