Germany’s largest trade union, IG Metall, agreed a 2.3% wage increase, to be paid either in full or as part of a switch to a four-day week, in a key industrial region, setting the benchmark for 3.9 million metal and engineering workers nationwide.

Which circles back to my nenver-answered or ‘figured out question: “Why 40 hours/week?” That might have been the balance we had to set to achieve the remarkable growth since the Industril Revoution (with all that & our era’s trading growth for long-term planning.
If the lack of real wage growth has not followed productivity gains, as some hve suggested, the workers are overdue where working 32 hours/week for the same amount they got paid pre-this-implentation.
