Naloxone does not encourage opioid use. It has been used safely since the 1960\u2019s and is on the World Health Organization List of Essential Medicines.<\/p>\n<p>Naloxone is a relatively safe drug. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camh.ca\/en\/health-info\/mental-illness-and-addiction-index\/naloxone\">Giving naloxone to a person that is unconscious because of a non-opioid overdose is unlikely to cause harm<\/a>.
